How to enjoy the King of Sweets- ‘RASGULLAS’ with lesser Guilt and More Taste?

Its really hard to find a person who has a heart to say ‘No’ to the extremely tempting Indian Delicacy- ‘Rasgullas’. Festivals are the occasion when even the Diet conscious think of taking a waiver and relishing mouthful of these extremely mouthwatering ‘Nectar-Balls’, but later on suffer from the guilt of in-taking more Sugar than planned. The Idea in question is about the Canned Rasgullas, which have a higher than normal sugar content in the ‘Ras’ or the sugar syrup in which, the ‘Gullas’ come dipped in.

While this higher sugar concentration may be unavoidable on the part of the manufacturers in order to maintain the preservation value of the product, the end users end up in-taking more sugar with the syrup while relishing this delicacy and thereby the ‘Guilt’. I have been thinking of ways to lessen this guilt and ultimately found one which is amazingly simple.

The major issue encountered with the Canned ‘Rasgullas’ is that due to storage over time, the ‘Gullas’ mostly become less spongy and somewhat brittle in texture, which is not exactly how they are meant to be originally in their fresh state.

The catch is that after opening the can take out the ‘Rasgullas’ one by one with the help of a spoon and immerse them fully in a bowl of Water (normal room temperature) for around 2 to 3 minutes slightly squeezing it once to facilitate the osmosis procedure taking place in the Gullas. And what comes out is an amazingly Soft and Spongy ‘Rasgulla’ freshened up in texture and lowered down in sweetness creating a perfect balance of Taste, Freshness and Health.

I know, after reading this, some of you might head straight to the kitchen and relish loads of this ever tempting never avoidable Indian delicacy.  UUUMMMM…  Love it !!!
