Oneplus 5: The best is yet to come!

We are just 40 hours away from the official announcement of Oneplus 5. But there is no point of announcement when the exclusive look of the phone is already live. So, say new monster phone of 2017 and the most expensive phone Oneplus Flagship smartphone ever.

By the way, if you are wondering where did Oneplus 4 gone, then for your information, Oneplus is Chinese manufacturer, in Chinese culture they consider number 4 as the sign of bad luck, that is why there won’t be Oneplus 4. If you want then consider Oneplus 3T as number 4.

So, lets go back to Oneplus 5. This time they want to prove that Oneplus is not just a phone with cheap price and good specs. This time they want to show how far they can go to challenge the best of the best. The main focus is on the camera.

Dual Camera

Oneplus 5 comes with dual rear camera. One of those camera is of 16 MP with an aperture of f/1.7 and another one is of 20 MP with an aperture of f/2.6. The results will be pretty good. Oneplus says that this is the highest resolution dual camera system on a smartphone today.

The CEO of Oneplus also said that they were exploring dual cameras last year but they knew the education cost would be too high. And he also thanked Apple for educating the market for them. That explains a lot. We have dual camera features exactly like the iPhone 7 Plus.

So, there is a 2x  optical zoom. Which allows capturing pictures without crop or lose quality, when zoomed in and second there is a portrait mode, which blurs the background in real time, creating DSLR like images. Which I really like on iPhone 7 Plus too.

Then there is selfie camera too. So, Oneplus 5 has 8 MP front selfie camera, which downgraded compare to Oneplus 3T, which has 16 MP of front camera.

Design and Build Quality

Oneplus 5 comes with all metal design similar to the last year’s Oneplus 3T. They have changed shape of the phone a little bit, So it is now more rounded with the corners. And the back, we have dual cameras on the back, a very iPhone type look.

The front side of the phone is same as Oneplus 3T, same buttons as well. Nothing changed. Also they have not removed Headphone jack just to create their own iPhone 7 Plus. So you will get headphone jack. More will be revealed during the official launch of the smartphone.

Performance

The Oneplus 5 is powered by the latest and best rated processor by far, the Snapdragon 835. It is octa core processor with 4x 2.35 GHz and 4x 1.9 GHz Kryo. The Oneplus 5 comes with 6 GB of RAM with Two variant of that, one with 64 GB of Internal storage and another with 128 GB of internal Storage.

There is also a rumoured variant with 8 GB of RAM, but only time will reveal the truth of that. But we are going to get the best performance. After all it comes with the highest specs for any flagship smartphone.

Display

Oneplus 5 still has 5.5 inch of display with the resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. Which is not just classic, but compare to other flagship smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S8 or LG G6, this is a bit of downfall. Although colours of the display is improved compared to Oneplus 3T.

The Oneplus 5 has Optic AMOLED display, which is same as Oneplus 3T. So, everything about the display is same as Oneplus 3T, just improved colours. Well, Oneplus 3T was a great success and improvement on that is much appreciated.

Battery and Charging

Since everything is same as Oneplus 3T in the Oneplus 5, Battery did get downgraded by little bit. Battery on Oneplus 5 is 3300 mAh Li-Ion. Which is not much less than 3400 mAh. And with the best power efficient processor, you will get longer battery life.

As far as charging goes, we are getting the Dash Charge support for fast battery charging. The Oneplus 5 is lased with USB 3.1 Type C connector.

Software

Oneplus 5 will be running on Android 7.1 nougat. I hope there won’t be bloatware much. Also there will be Oxygen OS over Android Nougat. Those who have used Oneplus smartphones, it won’t be a problem for them. Those who haven’t, well it is not a rocket science, it is easy, so you will get used to.
