Nokia 6 : An outstanding phone with latest Android and immersive entertainment

The Global version of the Nokia 6 is not coming out till at least may of 2017. So, this review is of Nokia 6 Chinese Model (imported). Nokia phones are back in the scene in 2017. Well, it is same Nokia that we know from the 90’s.

Although, Nokia has been out of the game for a long time, but HMD global has acquired the Nokia brand and it is looking to release a few phones this year. Starting with the Nokia 6.

Designed for perfection and built to last

Nokia 6 continues in the footsteps of heritage Nokia Design: it has a striking clean look, a smooth metal exterior and precise details – and five colours to choose from, including a limited edition glossy Arte Black.

The frames edges are quite sharp and even though I am not a fan of their shiny polish but I appreciate, how good of a grip they provide.

Overall, Nokia 6 is one solid phone with great looks, but it is not the most compact 5.5 inches. The exterior is pretty standard for a modern smartphone.

Made to be life-proof

The body of Nokia 6 is crafted with integrity from seamless precision-milled aluminium, taking 55 minutes to machine from a solid block of metal. Together with the sculpted Corning Gorilla Glass, it’s made with materials that can take on life as you know it.

For decades, Nokia phones have stood for beautiful, crafted design and excellent quality. This phone is no different: it’s built to take on life as you know it – with durable and beautiful materials, great feel, and an ideal balance of performance and battery life.

What’s best, your Nokia phone will stay secure and up to date with regular software updates. So, you can say that this is Smartphone for Life(That is what Nokia Stand for from the beginning).

Watch and Read on Big and Bright Display

The Nokia 6 has a 5.5 inch full HD display and it is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. Not only that but it also has wide colour reproduction, which make it easy to enjoy your entertainment, even while out and about in bright daylight. And the wide viewing angle makes it easy to watch videos with friends.

The Nokia 6 Display is among the brightest screens in its price. Segment is easily usable in sunlight, the contrast is also good and if you switch the screen setting to warm you get great colour accuracy as well.

Immersive entertainment

With Nokia 6’s dual speakers and dedicated amplifier, you get loud sound, deep bass and great clarity. Comes with certified Dolby Atmos sound.

The phone earpiece doubles is one of the stereo loudspeakers which is located near selfie camera at the top of the phone and the other one is located at the bottom of the phone. They also included 3.5 mm Audio jack.

Document your life with the 16 MP camera

Snapping photos of your favourite moments is easy with the camera app on Nokia 6. There’s a 16 MP phase detection auto-focus camera on the back, and an 8 MP camera on the front. Plus the dual-tone flash on the main camera helps you to take natural-looking photos, even in low light.

Nokia-6-Camera

Rear camera of 16 MP sticks out a bit, doesn’t look bad, but it can cause your phone to wobble. Camera interface is quite simple.

If you want a manual mode, it is hidden inside the menu, there is not a lot of customization options available, the image quality on the Nokia 6 is not that great.

There is a decent amount of details, but you can notice the softness towards the edges. The colours feel muted and dull, none of them seem to pop. There is an HDR mode, but it doesn’t seem to add anything positive.

The nokia 6 shoots video at 1080p @ 30 frames per second. 4K video recording is not available here. Video quality is pretty good. There is plenty of detail and textures. Look natural, but the colours are again a bit of a let down.

Latest Android: Up to date

Nokia 6 comes with Android Nougat, the full spread of Google Services and no unnecessary extras. You get an experience that’s focused and clutter-free, and you will keep getting regular updates, so you’ll always stay on top of features and security.

Latest_Android_v2

The Nokia 6  comes with Android 7.0 Nougat with Nokia’s customized UI on top. On the Nokia home screen, all the system items and pre-installed apps are painted in Nokia blue and they are all circles. Aesthetics aside, this makes it hard to find a particular function at a glance. All third-party apps have their normal icons though.

You can use an optional app drawer or just keep all of your apps on the home screen. Unfortunately, you can not customize the look of your UI with themes, the notification shade is easy to get to and the toggles are big but there is no way to toggle the auto brightness mode from there.

Pure and Secure

The Nokia 6 comes with Finger print reader which is front mounted and located between two touch sensitive navigation keys. You can use it to unlock your phone and it also acts as a home key.

nokia 6 design

The fingerprint reader responds quickly but not the most accurate we have ever seen. It is also positioned quite low on the phone’s body, which for some might feel awkward.

The Nokia 6 scored a battery endurance rating of 75 hours, so it is above average for it’s class, but certainly not a battery champion. The talk time and the standby battery draw were particularly good.
