Micromax Evok Note Review: Really Invincible?

Micromax is literally failing to make their mark on smartphone market again. There was a time when Micromax did shook every smartphone companies with their Cheap smartphones. But from sometime Micromax is falling behind from everyone else.

They are desperate to make their sales high again, actually they were so desperate that they made a carbon copy of Chinese Smartphone Qiku 360 Q5 under their flag, changing name and logo of manufacturer. Micromax did get beaten with the Micromax Dual 5. Now, they are back to manufacturing cheap smartphone.

They initiated new Evok series, Here we are discussing Micromax Evok Note. This smartphone is available exclusively on Flipkart at the price of 9,499/- INR. Let’s see how did they do this time.

Superior Performance

micromax evok note performance suratnow

Micromax Evok Note is powered by 1.3 GHz Octa-core Mediatek MT6753 and 3 GB of LP-DDR3 RAM, which is great considering the price, but even if we don’t consider the price, these specifications are bound to give you a great performance.

You can play games, edit videos, work on your presentations and do much more without facing lag, this smartphone is working good, but you can’t put too much on this one, after all it is just 9.5K INR you are paying. You can not expect performance like Samsung or anything else tagged with price over 20K INR. But it is good for low budget.

Full HD Display

Well, Micromax Evok Note has 5.5 Inch IPS LCD Display, with Full HD resolution of 1080 x 1920 Pixels. You can’t say that display is the brightest, you have ever seen, but it is bright enough. Display is among the strong points of this smartphone.

Micromax Evok Note is offering 2.5D glass to ensures durability, Crisp and clear and rich picture clarity.

Camera

This is the most important point in smartphone review as always, but for this smartphone do make a weakest point. Micromax Evok Note has 13 MP of rear camera which do support Auto focus feature and there is 4x Zoom.

It do seems pretty nice when you look at specs sheet, but take my word on this one, results of rear camera are too Bad. That being said, the front camera is of 5 MP, and that is no different than rear one, camera performance is too bad for both cameras.

If you are very fond of taking pictures and selfies with your smartphone, do not even dare to buy this one. This is the last smartphone, I would suggest for smartphone photography.

Battery and Charging

Micromax Evok Note is powered by a massive 4000 mAh battery, so it is able to run you through the full day. As of now, you should be wondering that why just one full day, after all this is 4000 mAh battery. Yes, it is. But problem is this smartphone consume much more power than you expect it to.

Not only that, charging on the Micromax Evok Note is worse than power consumption. This smartphone does not have fast charging support, which we consider ok as of price tag, but problem is when will you use your smartphone, if charging takes more than 3 Hours.

Some of the consumers also stated that this smartphone takes 4 Hours to charge up. It also heats whenever you charge it, which is a bad sign for this smartphone.

Software and Rest of the specifications

Micromax Evok Note is running on Androind 6.0 Marshmallow, so you can say that this is running on older versions. They didn’t even announced the new upgrade for OS. But there is an application called “Around App”. They are saying that this application is for travel freaks.

According to Micromax, Around App is pretty easy to use application and this application also helps you to book flight tickets, cabs, hotels and much more in just a click. Yeah, sure. It is good to get all those ticket and cab booking applications in just one app. But, if you are not a travel freak, just like me, then this is nothing but a bloatware.

Fingerprint Reader

Micromax Evok Note has a fingerprint sensor, which comes with Secure Vault. Secure Vault is a in-built locker to hide videos, private documents, photos and files to keep them safe. Now, this fingerprint reader is not among the quick fingerprint readers.

And certainly it is not the most accurate one either. Comparing to other fingerprint reader, this sensor is not pretty accurate to identify your finger when it is wet. I mean it do work but not every time. Even sometime it rejects your fingerprint, when you rotate smartphone.

As of their Secure Vault, it is nothing different from app locker application, which is available on play store, but with one extra feature of fingerprint unlocking, so it is worth giving a shot.

Storage

Micromax Evok Note has 32 GB of internal storage with 32 GB of expandable storage. Now, here comes the trouble. First of all, this smartphone allows microSD cards with storage capacity of less than 32 GB or 32 GB. But Micromax made it a hybrid SIM slot.

Micromax Evok Note is not even giving you 128 GB expandable storage and it demands you to use either your secondary SIM or microSD Card. But at the end of the day, it do supports OTG, so it is not a big problem.

Conclusion:

When you look at the specs sheet, this smartphone do impress you. But in overall performance, this smartphone is not the good choice. Especially, when you like to do phone photography. As I mentioned above the cameras on Micromax Evok Note are not the pleasant ones.

Only things impressing to buy this device is display and build quality. But when you consider other models of Micromax, you will find Micromax Canvas 6 a better choice. Canvas 6 is surprisingly better than this one, which doesn’t really happen.

Whenever a company launch their smartphone, they do make sure that their smartphone is a better option than their older smartphone at that price. It is totally opposite here. Micromax Canvas 6 is available at the same price as Micromax Evok Note, With similar Specs.

The advantages on Canvas 6 are front camera which is of 8 MP and Processor is also a better one. Only disadvantage is that battery is just 3000 mAh, but yet it makes a better choice than Evok Note.

So, what do you think about this Micromax Evok Note? Let me know in comments.
