How To Block Pendrive or external Drive In Windows 7,8,8.1 and 10

For Privacy Reason or Because of virus threat, You Like To Block Your USB port to prevent unauthorized access.So No body can steal your data.

Here are the 4 easy way to restrict access To USB drive.

  1. Disabling USB port from device manager.
  2. Using Third Party Software.
  3. By Altering The Registry value OF USB mass storage form registry edit.
  4. By Uninstalling the USB mass Storage Drivers.

Let me explain each way briefly.

1 )  Disable USB Port From Device Manager

You Can Simply Block USB Access by disabling USB storage from device manager. to disable USB port just need to follow the below steps.

  1. Right Click on my computer >Properties >Click Device manager. as you click on device manager. it will show you all hardware installed in your PC.
  2. expand the universal serial bus controller.
  3. right click the USB port which you want to block. and select disable.

Be aware, Don’t Disable mouse and keyboard port By Mistake.

2 ) block pendrive using third party software




you can download and use a free tool  USB Flash block/unblock which will allow you to easily enable or disable drives.

3 ) alter registry value of USB mass storage to disable USB drives

To alter the registry value of USB mass storage follow below steps.

  1. go to start > run, type regedit to open registry editor.
  2. Now Navigate To following key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\USBSTOR

In the right panel, select Start and change the value to 4. (The value 3 will enable USB Storage). Click OK.

4 ) Uninstall the USB mass Storage Drivers

if you are extremely worried about your data. than you can take extreme step of uninstalling the USB mass storage drives.

as any one install the USB storage window will check for drive and if driver is not found. window will prompt to install the drivers.
